Investigating this was not a problem, as I like to assist those who have questions about the software that I have written. Although I may not modify the script so that it will work in situations like the one that you encountered, I will continue to update it whenever necessary.

Thanks again,

Thanks for investigating this matter so deeply. Please don't go to too much trouble, since the situation was an edge-case anomaly.

Hello, and thank you for your comment.

I viewed that page to which you posted a link. And I also found that when clicking the link that the script adds below the video that you mentioned, the page for a different video appears. I took some time to determine why this occurs, and was able to determine the cause of this.

As you may have seen by reading the comments on that page, the video that was originally embedded there was not the correct one. This appeared to be corrected. However, after viewing the source code of the page, that embedded video is within a link to a different video. I am not sure why videos are embedded within links on that page. However, that is one other error on that page that needs to be corrected.

Perhaps the script could be updated so that situations like that could be handled. However, I have never seen a video embedded this way before, and this situation and this error seem to be extremely rare. However, I will consider making updates so that the script will work in this situation, especially if I ever see anything like this happen again.

Thanks again,

J.K.

I very much appreciate your "Link to YouTube Video Pages from Embedded YouTube Videos" Greasemonkey userscript. I am a bit puzzled, however. I first used it on this page:

http://unrealitymag.com/index.php/2009/05/15/the-10-most-popular-world-of-warcraft-videos-of-all-time/

And I ran into a problem with the final video. When I hover over the link to the No. 1 video (the "Dancing" video), it gives me the correct URL for the video. However, when I click on it, it takes me to the video for #4 on the page (the video set to the "300" trailer audio).

Any idea what might be going on?

Hello.

If I understand correctly, you would like to know how embedded YouTube videos can be played automatically once the page on which they are embedded has loaded. Although this does not seem to be related to the Greasemonkey user script for YouTube that I wrote about in this blog post, I could give information on this that you may find useful.

As you may know, parameters can be added to the ends of URLs used to embed videos. The parameter for setting whether or not the video is to automatically be played is "autoplay". Therefore, "&autoplay=1" must be added to the end of the URL used to embed the video in order for the video to be played once the embedded player is loaded. For more information on these parameters, <a href="http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/player_parameters.html" rel="nofollow">you may click here to view documentation on them</a>.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask them. I hope this helped.

Thanks,

Hi, until a couple of days ago it was possible to have your videos on autostart at the front-page. The same goes for when you embedded a video at for example Myspace (&autostart=1) -- is it me or YoutTube who took that away? Do you have any clue to how one can solve this problem?
Great Thoughts jvc
